&lt;p&gt;If you&#039;re doing video encoding and you get a lot of uploads, you could get up to a backlog of 10 very fast. It&#039;ll take a few minutes to start up a new EC2 node, and in the meantime you&#039;ll lose data?&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Unless I&#039;m missing something or misunderstanding what they mean by buffer?&lt;/p&gt;
