I’m not sure yet if we’ll be in Boston or New York on the 30th, but I know what I’m doing … watching Serenity! (not, unfortunately, Santa Cruz as originally planned)
Any movie going parties forming in either city? Looking to add 1 fan, and 1 skeptic to the mix?
update: from brian in the comments:
Serenity will have some competition on the 30th, as the lavish Henson studio production of Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean’s MirrorMask opens that day as well.
Oh my! I had forgotten that was out there, Henson, Gaiman and McKean. (I wonder what ever happened to Gaiman/Froud Tam-lin project?

I never read Hellblazer, so I only know Gaiman’s interpretation of John Constantine, but if there was ever a character who seemed less clueless then Constantine, and less appropriate to be played as if he were suffering a lobotomy, I can’t think of it now.
So while Keanu is a brilliant choice as drug addled view point character of gorgeous looking Scanner Darkly
(via), what the hell were they thinking casting him as Constantine?

Was reading Gaiman’s
journal and he mentioned he had a story in a recently released anthology, Mojo: Conjure Stories.
Conjure stories are a problematic sub-genre of local color fiction. One I
happen to be impressed by. And I think Gaiman is amazing. But he is also as
white (if not as pure) as driven snow. I don’t know. I’m skeptical but
intrigued.
