La Carta de Oaxaca
Had my first good Mexican food since moving to Seattle. La Carta de Oaxaca in Ballard. Flavors were authentic. Salsa bar was excellent and fresh. Tortillas, and chips were hand made to order. Prices were reasonable (portions were small, but satisfying) Vegetarian options are seriously limited, but what there is is good. (I was there during a quiet spell, and they seemed happy to cook up something special, though I ended up ordering the enchiladas off the menu) I sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen, best seat in the house as far as I’m concerned. (if you’re squeamish about deep frying you might want to sit elsewhere) I steered away from the margaritas (too many Seattle disappointments), remembering only afterwards that Jon recommended them
